Puerto Vallarta December 11th the last day of the Festival of Guadalupe, the Peregrinacions will be going all thru the night with the church bells ringing amid all the Fireworks. The Peregrnacions are parades of homage to the Virgin of Guadalupe with homemade floats, everyone wears white and carries candles and sings the traditional Guadalupana song. After 12 days of hearing this it will seem very quiet to have it end.
This is such a special time of year in Puerto Vallarta, when the town is completely full of the celebration, streets are closed and the main plaza infront of the iconic Cathedral of Guadalupe is filled with vendors selling all kinds of traditional food, from Pozole to Gorditas and much more. My favorite of all of the local festivals the 12 days celebrating the Virgin of Guadalupe, with processions, dancing, music, fireworks and much more.

The history of this special day Día de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, celebrates the miraculous appearance of the Virgin of Guadalupe to Juan Diego on December 12, 1531, the image of his vision was printed on his cloak and is on display in Mexico City at the Basilica of Guadalupe which was constructed at the site where he saw the vision. It is considered a must see for all Catholic Mexicans able to travel to Mexico City.
