Gary Thompson of Galeria Pacifico is at the Millennia Sculpture at the north end of the Malecón, next to the Rosita Hotel, every Tuesday morning, November to April, at 9:30 am. Gary, a longtime resident of Puerto Vallarta, has a lot of good stories to share about the permanent and temporary sculptures. This is a free tour but carry pesos to share with the artisans you will meet, such as the sand sculpturer. Carve out at least two hours of your morning for this tour and make sure to wear a sunhat.

The IFC (International Friendship Club) has done house tours for many years. Along the Rio Cuale your walk will be self guided but the market, restaurants and artisans, from one end to the other, could take all day, if you are so inclined. The Isla Cuale, located in the heart of Puerto Vallarta, has the best of old and new. At the eastern end of the island is Puerto Vallarta’s small archeological and cultural museum. From fancy ocean view restaurants to cozy cafés, you’ll have no trouble pleasing your palate.
