This year, Lonely Planet is delighted to sponsor Other Voices, a unique music festival taking place in Dingle, Co Kerry, Ireland, from 4 to 6 December.
Every year, Other Voices invites a diverse range of musicians to perform in the intimate setting of the 80-seater St James’ Church and broadcasts it for a wider audience. What started as a television programme in 2002, evolved into a music festival covering the entirety of the little fishing village and sprawling up through the Wild Atlantic Way.
This weekend, the church will play host to Glen Hansard, Low, Gaz Coombes, Gavin James and The Academic, among many others.
Lonely Planet will be attending and we’re taking you with us. From 1pm GMT on Friday 4 December, expect photos and videos on our UK Twitter account using the hashtag #LPatOV and some behind the scenes action, interviews and stunning views on Lonely Planet Periscope.
Dingle: an authentic gem in the middle of the Wild Atlantic Way
If you haven’t been lucky enough to visit Dingle, you’re in for a treat. The peninsula’s ‘little capital’ is filled to the brim with little restaurants, charming B&Bs, pubs that double as hardware stores and one very friendly dolphin. The only thing we can’t guarantee is clement conditions due to the unpredictable Irish December weather, but we hope to find you a spot of sunshine over the weekend!
Need a bit more inspiration? We’re offering the County Kerry chapter of our Ireland guidebook for free until Tuesday 8 December. Click here to download and apply the code OTHERVOICES to your shopping cart.
To get you in a musical mood, we’ve compiled a special Other Voices playlist on our Spotify. You can also check out their recent podcasts and the full broadcast will be on RTÉ Player International in 2016. We hope you’ll join us this weekend to experience a little bit of magic in Dingle!
