‘Organic’ hotel complex planned for Lofoten islands, Norway
An Oslo-based architecture firm has revealed the first photos of a unique new hotel complex in Norway. Its enormous organic form will snake across part of the Lofoten and will include hotels, apartments, spa facilities and seawater basins. Costing around US$66 million to build, the complex will be marketed to the increasing number of wealthy tourists visiting the country. Read more:

A third of Germany’s native species under threat
The largest biodiversity study ever undertaken in Germany has revealed that a third of the nation’s native animal, plant and fungi species are under threat. The study cites habitat loss due to intensive agriculture as one of the reasons, with the use of pesticides affecting insects such as butterflies and bees. Read more:

Anger in Spain over Shakira’s song in Catalan
Shakira, currently a resident of Barcelona, has released a song in Catalan on her new album. The track is her cover of ‘Boig per tú’ (Mad for You) by Catalan group Sau. This has caused negative comments on social media from Spaniards who see it as a sign of the famous singer’s support for Catalonia’s push for independence. Shakira hasn’t commented on this issue. Spend the night in Vienna’s palace
One of Austria’s top tourist attractions, the late 17th century Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, is giving tourists the chance to spend the night. The opulent palace is the former residence of the Habsburg family and can be booked from 30 April at a starting price of around €700 per person per night. Extra services available include a horse-drawn carriage and personal butler. Read more:

Minsk hosts Ten Centuries of Art exhibition
The National Art Museum of Belarus in Minsk is hosting a major exhibition called Ten Centuries of Art in Belarus. The project marks the 75th anniversary of the museum. On show are 500 exhibits from the Byzantine period to the present day, from 29 different collections. The exhibition, supported by the Ministry of Culture, will last until 10 July.
