Puerto Vallarta Hotel Day Passes
Before we lived in Puerto Vallarta, we visited, and we loved hanging out at our hotel, swimming in the pool, ordering our lunch poolside, sipping margaritas at the swim-up bar. We thought those days were over when we bought our first home. We were delighted to discover many of the hotels in Puerto Vallarta issue day passes so we can pretend to be guests in the city and then go back to our own comfy home at the end of the day.
Playa Los Arcos, in Old Town on Olas Altas charges $199 pesos for an all-inclusive day pass or $499 for day and evening. The money you spend for the pass is deducted from your food and drink bill. It’s an incredible deal. The Sheraton, at the entrance to the el Centro district in Puerto Vallarta, is a rip-roaring deal at $390 pesos for a half day, which usually is enough time for most people. The Westin in the Marina Hotel Zone has always been a favorite of ours. The same application of crediting the cost of the day-pass toward food and beverage is grand at $350 pesos for adults and $100 for the kiddies. Westin has a great Kids’ Club, too, where kids can do crafts and play games under supervision, giving moms and dads a break. Casa Magna Marriott is also in the Marina area; $350 per person with a special break for those who live locally at half that price! (Bring a utility or phone bill for proof.) Barcelo, to the south in Mismaloya, is $899 pesos, once again, applying the fee to purchases made while you’re enjoying the pool and surroundings. Fiesta Americana is adult only, half day pass for $80 US or full day for $110 US.
There are also specific beach clubs in Puerto Vallarta that offer short and long term memberships, such as Mantamar, which is $500 pesos for a day but offers a year membership for $8000 pesos. Etc Beach Club in Nuevo Vallarta doesn’t charge for a pass but they also don’t have a pool. However, the food is excellent and the beach is heavenly. We know of tourists who have gone to Etc just to get away from their All-Inclusive for a day!
Always bring your ID; it will be returned to you when you leave. Cash is King. Bring your own towels, just in case; the higher end destinations usually provide but it’s a good idea to be prepared. Always ask the hours they serve food by the pool as some are limited. Enjoy yourselves and remember, you are guests.
