Mi Vida, mi Tierra, Mi Mar. In Puerto Vallarta , Mexico. Translates as “My life, my land my ocean”. This is the latest campaign by the new Mayor in office since December and already the changes can be sensed a kinder gentler Puerto Vallarta. The new campaign is about taking pride in our town, the beaches and the ocean cleaning up any litter, painting buildings, and showing our love of this special destination. The Mayor or as they say here President of Puerto Vallarta is Ramon Guerrero. Since coming to office besides all the regular Mayor he has drastically cleaned up the amount of litter around town and along the highways, mainly by campaigns to take pride and organized garbage collection. He had a big Pet adoption at city hall to teach the value of Spaying or Neutering your dog or cat. There are new plants and flowers in many areas thanks to the city. The latest is a program to make Puerto Vallarta more user friendly for over 13,000 disabled travelers who visit Puerto Vallarta annually and the many thousands who would like to visit but have had concerns about accessibility .
Starting in June 2013, there will be four First aid stations in strategic points around the downtown including the very popular and very handicapped friendly Malecon or oceanfront Boardwalk. The First Aid stations will offer typical tourist first aid and also have wheelchair rentals, walkers, canes and crutches. More handicapped parking in the downtown will be developed. The Tourism board and Municipal Health Counsel of Puerto Vallarta are working together on this and other measures.
The previous Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, made grander changes but I am very impressed and hope other people appreciate the current Mayor is making big changes with less expense.
