The villa experience, Puerto Vallarta last night I had an amazing dinner at Villa Ventana, the villas latest signature dish – Lamb a Framboise – grilled Lamb served on Spinach with Pine nuts over a drizzled Raspberry reduction. The contrast of flavors was amazing, matched with a chilled domestic Sauvignon Blanc (yes there are great wines made in Mexico check out the article from Wine Enthusiast magazine ) with just a hint of fruitiness it was a perfect pairing on a hot summer night.
We started the evening with some excellent Margaritas; you can taste the difference when they are made with fresh squeezed lime juice and some equally great Guacamole with Salsa and Totopos. There is an outdoor living area that is the favorite place in the villa; we stayed there drinking Margaritas until the sunset. Then inside the table was set and the breathtaking red blown glass chandelier is a piece of art. For dessert the chef had made Flan a traditional and favorite dessert, it is baked custard and while it sounds simple, perhaps boring it has a burnt caramel sauce and could make you cry.
There was a crescent moon and the outline of palm trees, handsome men, a beautiful woman and witty repartee set against spectacular architecture. It was like a scene from the movie Casa Blanca, before the Germans showed up.
