Puerto Vallarta, – You will never be bored in Puerto Vallarta, there is something happening almost every night, sometimes more then one fun event, and many are free. Today Thursday February 27th is an event to help the Buganvilia Festival scheduled for May to coincide with Restaurant Week. More about that later, tomorrow night is the unveiling of the latest sculpture by Jim Demetro. He is the well known sculpture who did the famous Dancers on the malecon. The latest creation will be located at Lazaro Cardenas Park with an unveiling on Friday, February 28th at 6:30 pm. The newest work is a bronze sculpture, called "Andale Bernardo," as sculpture of a Burro, which he is donating to the City of Puerto Vallarta.
The Artist Demetro has sculptures all over the world, and as Puerto Vallarta is lucky to have him as part time resident, he has returned the favor by donating 3 amazing pieces of his work to the town. All displayed in popular locations so all can enjoy the work. Besides the famous Dancers his other work is the Washer women in along the extension of the Malecon on Los Muertos beach in front of the Molina de Agua condominiums.
The artist explained his latest work is a homage to the very hard working Burros, who were integral in the construction and building of the town. The sturdy burro has worked very hard, hauling sand, rocks, and cement up and down the hills, long before there were machines to do this work and even after. Jim wanted to preserve their history for future generations. The statue is now ready in bronze, thanks to the generosity of Mrs. Isabel Manore of Casa Isabel Boutique Hotel and Restaurant, and numerous donors.
