Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Today is Palm Sunday and if you were near the Cathedral of Guadalupe in the downtown historical district you could not miss the sound of the church bells ringing for the 8am mass. The street leading up to the entrance of the Cathedral is lined with people selling items hand woven from fresh palm fronds and some tiny yellow flowers. The ambiance is very peaceful but leading up to a busy holiday week.
The surf has been lower, so no surfers along the south end of the Malecon , the brilliant yellow flowers of the Primavera trees are in bloom, as they have no leaves when they go into bloom it is a massive bright yellow mass against the blue sky.
Last Sunday April 6th we changed to Daylight savings time , and all it meant was that everyone was 30-45 minutes late. The system may be to spring ahead an hour but most of the country totally forgot or maybe managed to change by 30 minutes. A friend went to a favorite happy hour on wedneday april 9th and when she arrived the waiter told her she was too late but as she was a valued customer they would make an exception. She was not late, but they had totally missed the change of time by 4 days. At the best of times Mexicans have a very casual attitude about time and promptness, so throwing an hour of change into an already vague situation is not the wisest plan. However that is part of the charm of Mexico, the Mañana attitude
