Montenegro’s Herceg Novi hosts 45th Mimosa Festival
Montenegro’s Adriatic coast town of Herceg Novi hosts the traditional Mimosa Festival for the 45th time, from 1 to 15 February. The annual festival is named after the bright-yellow Mediterranean flower, which is in full bloom at this time of the year, and celebrates the end of winter, with various tourist, cultural and sports events, including the famous marching majorettes. Boat travel to Bulgarian volcanic-rock island to start in May
From May 2014, five daily boat trips will take visitors from Burgas to St Anastasia Island (known as Bolshevik Island during the communist era) on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast. The tiny volcanic-rock island – which was the setting of the 2011 movie The Island – has a monastery, guesthouse, restaurant and a small museum. Source
